Akira Wyld is the youngest child of the legendary grappler Greco Wyld. Much like how his father helped define the classic, mat based, regional wrestling movement of the early 1980s, Akira helped to revolutionize the attitude-intensive, high impact in-ring style that became popular in the new millennium. Born with a chip on his shoulder and athletic ability to back up his mouth, Akira quickly rose to the top of the national wrestling scene. Shortly after his debut, winning the Pro Wrestling SHAFT world heavyweight championship at the young age of 24. However, a lack of maturity resulted in a premature end to his North American wrestling career. After a series of unprofessional no-shows and backstage flare-ups, Akira was stripped of his title in controversial fashion. In the following years, Akira developed a reputation as an unreliable performer, leading many key promotions to blacklist him from future bookings. Eventually, he left the North American wrestling scene, taking independent bookings in South America, Europe, and Japan. A successful series of matches against old rival Kazuma in Japan helped to rehabilitate his reputation, making him a sought-after draw around the world. Recently, Akira Wyld returned to the states. Older and wiser, but still hot-headed, Akira has come to PWA seeking validation… and possibly redemption for an immature past.
