GARY BLOOMFIELD: "Ladies and gentlemen, we are here preparing for PWA Battery with a bit of a pre-show for the fans in attendance, when Tiger Gold and Nemesis Rex confronted each other in the ring! Here is that footage!"

***The scene opens moments before PWA Battery is set to air. The theme of the PWA Heavyweight Champion blasts over the loudspeakers as Tiger Gold makes his way to the ring. He poses on the top turnbuckle, holding his PWA Championship Belt high over his head. The crowd explodes as the masked champion poses and camera flashbulbs go off all throughout the arena. Tiger Gold motions for a microphone from a ringside attendant.***

GOLD: “PWA Armada... I am Tiger Gold, and I stand before you, your reigning, defending PWA Heavyweight Champion. Tonight I am here, in this arena, because this championship... this title... brings with it a mantle of great responsibility. It is a champion’s duty to defend his title against all comers. I swore when I won this belt that I would stand as a shining example of the immortal legacy that it represented. Throughout this season, I have stood across the ring from giants and madmen. I have put this title on the line against the strongest and hungriest competitors this organization had to offer. And tonight, I shall do so once again. Tonight in this very ring...”

***Tiger Gold is suddenly cut off by the bass tones of a familiar theme on the stadium loudspeakers. As Nemesis Rex’s entrance music echos through the arena, Tiger Gold lowers his microphone and stares toward the ramp. After a moment... Nemesis Rex appears with a microphone in hand. Rex walks slowly down the aisle, staring down the champion with wary, calculating eyes.”

REX: “Yes yes... we all hear you. Honor... integrity... commitment... “the souls of the immortals”. You’re singing an old song Tiger Gold. And as usual, everyone in this arena is a step ahead of you, just waiting for you to hit your catch phrases and pose for the cameras. Every week you say the same words, make the same promises, and lay your belt on the line. You’ve defended against former champions, sadistic madmen and mammoth giants... all the while, spouting the same arrogant platitudes to these idiot fans.”

***Rex stops and holds the microphone out to the fans as they voraciously boo.***

REX: “You think you’re being noble... you think you’re setting some magnificent example for your impressionable multitudes to follow. But all you are doing is spouting the most insulting, arrogant, drivel. You and I have been in this business for a long time Gold. We’ve stood on opposite sides of the ring more times than I can count. Truth be told, the only reason I tolerate your asinine gall at all is that I’ve spent a lifetime watching you back up your claims.”

***Gold puts his hands on his hips and regards Nemesis Rex.***

REX: “You are that damn good Gold. You talk big... and you back it up. See, that’s where The Spoiler’s wrong about you. He keeps trying to get in your head and tell you you’re not the man you used to be. He doubts your convictions. But me... I know you’re everything you claim to be. And that... is why you are in deep, deep trouble tonight.”

***Rex enters the ring through the middle rope, staring Gold down as he approaches.***

REX: “See... I’ve been in this game even longer than you have. I’ve seen you at your peaks and your valleys. You know that I know you better than any competitor that has ever stepped in this ring with you. And what I see right now as I look at you man to man... is a warrior who has never looked better. And that is why you are in dire straits right now. I see you for EXACTLY what you are... and I know that I’m even better. Never in my life have I felt the power coursing through my body that I have this season. My Unkindest Cut has destroyed men left and right on PWA Battery. I am renewed and ready to cement my legacy as the greatest wrestler this world has ever seen. And I am going to do that tonight... by taking that title from you. Tonight, I will beat you on your best day. And once I have done that, the circle will be complete. Nemesis Rex will reign supreme... and the entire wrestling world will fall to the Unkindest Cut of all.”

***Gold stares down Rex for a long moment. He then takes a step toward the old grappler and sneers.***

GOLD: “Well then... it appears that there is little else to say. Nemesis Rex... prepare to enter the arena of the immortals. For both you and I... DESTINY AWAITS.”

***Gold drops his microphone and stands nose to nose with Nemesis Rex as the crowd explodes in anticipation and the opening theme and pyrotechnics of PWA Battery erupt around them.***
