Promos for Assault 2/23/18
EDIT: Original Title "Beckett Addresses the Doubters"
"Another victory in the PWA under my belt. Thus far, I am undefeated in this promotion. Get used to it. Bartholomew Beckett is the man to beat, and no one seems to be able to do it.
"Last time they brought me a man named Jack Lane, another one who felt that, as opposed to a ground game of any kind, he should better me by jumping about. So, I taught him. I kept him on the canvas where wrestling belongs. He wanted to trade blows? I taught him how to hit. He wanted to jump? I taught him the error of his ways. What did he learn? Lane doesn't know 'Jack.'
"So here I stand, utterly undefeated. The man they call 'the Brummie Brawler.'
"I hate that name. You colonial bastards don't get to say, 'Brummie.'
"So bring on whomever you wish. It matters not. Spencer Watts, Cobra Junior, Derrik Arse-Wand, Bob MacElroy, Cassidy Cray, the list goes on ...
"And then there's that Snow bastard. Now, I said before that, having beat him soundly, decisively - I bloody well made him tap out - I was not going to wrestle him again. First, he gets his fans to try and bully me into coming to grips with him again. Failing that, he pays his old boarder-jumping friend to come and try to intimidate me; I dealt with that. Then, he tries to get involved in a match with me illegally, much to the delight of the knuckle-draggers out there.
"Let's be clear about this: I still have no intention of giving that has-been a chance at me. He does not deserve another chance at me! I remain undefeated; I am not, as he thinks, afraid of a man I have already beaten, and who has never beaten me, but ... if he insists on these attacks on my character, and refuses to take the opportunities I have generously offered him time and again to stay out of my way, then he will, he will get his wish ... mush, be oh, so careful for what you wish."

PWA Weekend Rewind spotlights Robert MacElroy and Akira Wyld
***The scene opens to an already in-progress episode of PWA Weekend Rewind, the weekly PWA recap and analysis show that reviews the biggest news developments from PWA Assault. As always, the show is hosted by PWA Analyst Rich Bayner and Color Commentator and former IWF tag-team champion Damon Knight.***
BAYNER: “Welcome back to PWA Weekend Rewind folks. Thanks as always for joining us as we look back on what is always an exciting week in PWA.
KNIGHT: “Exciting is an understatement Rich. I can’t believe the action our superstars delivered this week on Assault. Everyone is gunning for that PWA Heavyweight Championship. I’m not sure the PWA Arena is going to be able to contain much more of this kind of action!”
BAYNER: “Right you are Damon. The Rise of Kings tournament is on fire. Nowhere is that more evident than in this week’s amazing tournament match between The Hard Man Robert MacElroy and the Surgical Specialist Akira Wyld.”
***Highlights of MacElroy and Wyld in the Rise of Kings tournament play on the screen as the announce team provides voice-over.***
KNIGHT: “Rich, ever since MacElroy set foot in PWA he has cemented himself as an honest-to-gosh grade-A main event talent. He has that charisma... that amazing fortitude that never fails to electrify the PWA audience. With standout matches against Tiger Gold and Brian Fury, The Hard Man had all eyes on him going into this week’s bout.”
BAYNER: “And he would be tested this week, facing off against former PWS Heavyweight Champion Akira Wyld. As anyone who has been following PWA this season knows, the brash and often arrogant veteran has wasted no time in earning the ire of the entire PWA locker room with his caustic and self-involved attitude.”
KNIGHT: “I’ll tell you what Rich... there were more than a few of the boys in the back who were anxious to see MacElroy shut Wyld up with a size thirteen boot in the teeth.”
BAYNER: “Long-time wrestling fans know that you and Wyld go way back Damon, training together at the Greco Wyld School of Wrestling in the late 90s.”
KNIGHT: “That’s right Rich... Wyld and I even tagged together back in the territorial days. But THIS Akira Wyld... I don’t know this guy at all. He’s become absolutely consumed with rage and jealousy. His vendetta against Damion Black and the PWA Management is threatening to consume the entire organization.”
***Highlights of the match between MacElroy and Wyld play on the screen. Footage is shown of Wyld grabbing a steel chair and swinging it wildly at MacElroy. Akira is shown violently suplexing MacElroy head-first into the turnbuckle and delivering a hard Surgical Strike on the concrete floor.***
BAYNER: “That rage was on full display this week as a vicious and unrelenting Wyld used every shortcut in the book to secure a very controversial victory in this hard-hitting tournament match.”
KNIGHT: “Akira may have scored the victory here but it was FAR from a clean win Rich. As the match went on you could see Akira losing his temper. No matter how much he threw at the Scotsman, MacElroy just would not stay down. The fact that Akira was forced to hit MacElroy with his finisher outside the ring is a testament to how unbelievably tough the Hard Man is. He simply would not say die... and by the end he just about had Akira beat.”
BAYNER: “He absolutely took Wyld to the limit. Dare I say if Wyld hadn’t targeted MacElroy’s neck so viciously over the course of the match he would never have tapped to the Akira Lock.”
KNIGHT: “Akira cheated plain and simple Rich. Turnbuckles and concrete floors absolutely should not be used like that. Akira Wyld is a coward and a hypocrite. He claims to be a technician and a champion but on Assault he showed himself to be nothing but a desperate opportunist.”
BAYNER: “PWA Reporter Ronnie Stockholm was able to catch up with the Surgical Specialist after his controversial victory.”
***Footage plays of Ronnie Stockholm interviewing Akira Wyld on the entrance ramp shortly after the conclusion of his match against MacElroy. The fans in the arena can be heard booing loudly as Stockholm addresses Wyld on camera.***
STOCKHOLM: “Akira Wyld, you just scored a victory tonight against Robert MacElroy... but how can you justify the underhanded tactics you used to advance your standing the Rise of Kings Tournament this evening?”
***Akira Wyld smirks at the camera.***
WYLD: “I don’t know what match you were watching Stockholm, but these people here just saw a wrestling clinic. I made the “hard man” Robert MacElroy tap out right in the center of that ring. I showed the world that no matter who I face... no matter how much money that has-been Damion Black pays these HITMEN to try to end my career... I’m two steps ahead. What you saw in this ring tonight wasn’t just a wrestling match... it was a warning to anyone who plans on trying to double-cross me again. Mark my words Stockholm... I’m not only out to win this tournament. I’m out to HURT each and every wrestler on Damion Black’s crooked payroll! This whole tournament is a conspiracy and I’m going to blow it WIDE open. Nobody is going to keep me from what I deserve. The PWA Heavyweight Championship is MINE... and there’s nothing Damion Black can do about it.”
***The camera cuts back to the PWA Weekend Rewind studio.***
BAYNER: “Strong words from Akira Wyld.”
KNIGHT: “More like the delusions of an unhinged mind. I’m telling you Rich, someone has to take this guy down before he ends someone’s career.”
BAYNER: “Goodnight everyone. I’m Rich Bayner for Damon Knight saying, see you next week on PWA Weekend Rewind.”

Even Kings Must Fall
The scene opens in the graveyard of an old church. The wind softly groans and the limbs of dead trees flit and clack together like the fingers of old women. In the near vicinity, the sound of earth being shoveled can be heard. The camera moves toward the sound. Bokrug Manaj is halfway down in a grave, shoveling his way further in.
BOKRUG: "We live on a mortal plane. Everything we touch, everything we see, all we gain, all we lust for. All of it dies. Destruction awaits every soul. Poor or rich, good or bad, everything in the end, will burn."
Bokrug's shovel strikes something hard and wooden. Bokrug continues to shovel dirt out, then bends down and opens the casket in the grave.
BOKRUG: "Come."
The camera continues forward until it looks down into the grave itself. Bokrug has opened the casket, revealing the decaying skeletal remains that lie within.
BOKRUG: "I do this to prove a point. Rex Camelot, self-styled King of Nothing, destruction awaits you. Gaze upon your future and tremble in it's certain oblivion. Even kings must fall before the Enlightenment that awaits PWA. You will be destroyed and forgotten. Mark my words, for I lie not: you walk a path of decimation. I will fulfill my destiny in defiance of you."
The camera fades to black.

Tiger Gold addresses Richard Pennyworth III... and has a message for Brian Fury
***The scene opens in an empty PWA Arena. The stadium lights are lowered and a spotlight falls on the center of the ring. Tiger Gold stands stoically in the center of the squared circle, the spotlight glinting off the jeweled tiger mask he wears. The camera tracks slowly around him as he speaks.***
GOLD: “Richard Pennyworth III... last week you battled with Tiger Gold, and our epic encounter shook the heavens. The reverberations of our conflict threatened to bring this colosseum of the immortals to the ground. I have fought with powerful titans whose might crumbled mountains... I have grappled with sadistic madmen bent on drawing first blood... but rarely have I been tested in his ring as I was when I clashed swords with you. You brought with you an educated mind and the technical precision of a finely honed blade. Your practiced technique truly took me to my absolute limit. You should be proud... your deeds have undoubtably etched your visage upon the tableau of the immortals. I look forward to encountering you again in the Rise of Kings Battle Royal. May your quest for glory strengthen your resolve and fuel your fighting spirit!”
***The camera stops tracking and Tiger Gold stares pensively into the camera.***
GOLD: “My next encounter in the Rise of Kings Tournament is one that I have been eagerly anticipating ever since I set foot in the Prestige Wrestling Association. This week at PWA Assault Tiger Gold shall enter the arena of combat to face... Brian Fury.”
***Tiger Gold slams a mighty fist into his opened palm. The impact echos throughout the empty arena.***
GOLD: “For many weeks I have watched you Fury... I have bared witness to your unrelenting might. You are the definition of the irresistible force and all who have encountered you have left changed for the experience. You possess a power and strength of will that is rare in any sport. You burn with the FIGHTING SPIRIT that I seek out at every organization I enter. YOU are the reason I am here in PWA. This encounter between you and I was foretold by the warriors in the heavens, and the legendary tales that will result from our war will echo into eternity. And make no mistake... a warrior will leave our ring this week a changed man. For the two of us enter this conflict as the only two UNDEFEATED competitors in the Rise of Kings Tournament. After the dust settles and the echos of our blows fade into silence... only one man will remain undefeated on his path to claim the first ever PWA Heavyweight Championship. Win or lose Brian Fury... the entirety of my existence has lead me to your doorstep. The universe waits in pregnant pause... a mighty chisel hangs over the stone of history, waiting to record our story in the halls of immortality. Prepare yourself Brian Fury! Destiny awaits!”
***Tiger Gold flexes his arms in a mighty roaring lion pose and growls. Fade to black.***

Brian Fury responds to Tiger Gold
(The scene opens in an abandoned gym. Brian Fury stands in front of an old ring with a black towel draped over his eyes and his head down. As Fury lifts his head, he begins to speak.)
Fury: In life you have to know how to survive. When times are tough you have to dig deep and sometimes make an example outta somebody to keep your rep. When times are good you keep fighting to keep the spot you earned. There’s always somebody hungry, somebody scrapping, somebody itching to take what you have. This is the world we live in and I’m not walking around naive. I know that it doesn’t matter what your job is, someone’s always gunning for you!
Tiger Gold, my job is being the BEST professional wrestler on the planet and make no mistake about it, I’m gunning for you and I know you’re gunning for me! Over the past few weeks you and I both have done what we needed to do to survive. I can sit here and talk trash about you.....or I can tell the truth. The fact of the matter is you’ve beaten everyone that’s come your way. When everyone thought you were done for you dug deep and showed the world what you’re made of. I can respect that....BUT......don’t mistake my respect for mercy! Right now, you’re in the way of me not ONLY staying undefeated but winning the biggest prize in ALL of wrestling, the PWA World title!!
How will you explain to the warriors that came before you that you FAILED to beat me? What will you tell your fans when I beat you within an inch of your life? On the 23rd Tiger Gold, when you and I meet for the first time in the ring......be prepared to do your best to survive......because you sure as hell WON’T WIN!
(Fury snarls and stares directly into the camera as the scene fades to black.)

Watt's excited to welcome back Pantaro.
The camera man makes his way into a backwoods gym with a bunch of up and comers training. Off in a corner working over a punching bag is Spencer Watts. His hoodie is duct taped around his wrist and tucked into his sweatpants that are duct taped around the ankles. When he notices the camera man he takes a few drinks of water and sits on the old worn out ring apron.
"You know camera man, I've always wondered how you managed to find all them wrestlers so quick? It don't matter if we're fresh out the showers or home eattin some of grandma's prized peach cobbler, when it comes time to hear from us, there you are! But I'm willin to bet you aint here to talk about yer trade secrets..."
Watts gets up off the apron and gives his back a little twist to stretch out.
"I know yer hear to ask me about my match against the returning Pantaro. Well I tell you what, that's an easy answer... Shouldn't even take a rocket scientist to see I've been hitting the gym harder and runnin the ropes more. I wanna make sure that Pantaro's first match back isn't just us gettin in there and makein sure the best man wins. I know if he's training just as hard as I am for it, it'll be Match of the Year, I'd bet my grandma's best cast iron skillet on it!"
Watts pulls his hood back up and tightens the draw strings.
"All I got to say for Pantaro, is welcome back and may the best man win... Now if you'll excuse me, that southern fried chicken and biscuits aint gonna go away on it's own... If ya know what I mean."

Re: Tiger Gold addresses Richard Pennyworth III... and has a message for Brian Fury
***Scene opens in a backstage area. Tiger Gold stands with his back to the camera. A blue and gold curtain backdrop fills the scene behind him. His bronze back fills most of the frame. He takes several slow, measured breaths.***
GOLD: “Brian Fury... you speak of SURVIVAL. You ruminate on the grueling struggle to meet ends... of experiencing the hunger of desperation that leads one to dig and claw and scrape to merely see the light of a new dawn. You speak from experience I can see... the eyes are the windows to the soul and I can see in yours a wild and untamed rage... honed like the edge of a battle-tested blade. I see in your eyes the fierce and unyielding determination to win and dominate... even at the cost life and soul. This is the man I came to PWA to test myself against. This is the FORCE that I must break in order to ascend to the realm of the immortals.”
***Tiger Gold turns to face the camera. His narrowed eyes glare straight ahead. His teeth are bared in a snarl.***
GOLD: “And I ‘will’ break you, make NO mistake. You say that you will offer me no mercy in our encounter. Brian Fury you will not even have the opportunity. For I am Tiger Gold... and no man can withstand my righteous fury! I respect your skill and your unwavering ferocity... but those traits will not save you. At PWA Assault, in the name of my ancestors and for the glory of the gods above, I will rend you limb from limb and secure my place in the halls of the Olympians!”
***Tiger Gold flexes his massive arms and steps toward the camera.***
GOLD: “You ask me how I will face my ancestors if I fail to defeat you... I will face them proudly with my head held high for I am TIGER GOLD! My name is legend and my journey is one of glory and greatness!”
***Tiger Gold points a finger at the camera and glares.***
GOLD: “Now I ask you Brian Fury... how will you face YOURSELF when you stare into the mirror after our match, broken and diminished... when your soul and your spirit have been bled from your body... when you are forced to yield to the indomitable will of a warrior who will not die? That is the true test of a warrior-born... and it is one you will face very soon. Prepare yourself Fury... for destiny... and for DEFEAT.”
***Tiger Gold clenches his hand into a fist and draws it slowly down as the camera fades to black.***

The Hard Road
(Footage from a security camera in the closed-to-the-public Greco Wyld Training Center. Akira Wyld walks in with a gym bag over one shoulder. He stops when he sees Robert MacElroy at one end of the gym, at the rings, hanging in an iron cross)
WYLD: “What? What is this?! MacElroy? What are you doing in MY gym?”
MAC: "Your gym? I did nae see yerr name o'er tha door, lad."
WYLD: “What the hell did you say to me?”
MAC: "One sec." (Robert swings down, towels-off the sweat that is pouring off of him.) "I say, I saw tha name o' 'Wyld' o'er tha door, nae 'Akira.' I' fact, you seem te have done all ye can te distance yerrsealf frrom yerrown kin." (looks round at the walls postered with the legacy of the Wyld family) "Theyrre's history 'erre, legacy. The old man therre, Nicos the 'Wild Greek ...' you know tha' when he got heerre he had but sixty-thrree cents an' a flip-knife i' his pocket? Helluva starrt-"
WYLD: "You ... you are not seriously lecturing me about my family!"
MAC: "Whist, boy. Tha doorr was unlocked, so in I came. I had an off couple o' matches, should 'ave gone longer. Last one ended wi' a stinger, time to get strongerr, aye? So, I come te trrain wherre tha history is. Get strongerr by carryin' morre weight, an' nothin' weighs morre than a legacy. (Turns away, rolls into the ring) "Therre's some as cannae cary it. 'At's a hard road."
WYLD: “Don’t turn your back on me MacElroy!”
MAC: "Come say it in herre, lad." (Akira stares in disbelief for a moment, then MacElroy throws his sweaty towl into Akira's face.) "Come, lad, get wild!"
(Akira throws his bag at MaElroy, then dives in at MacElroy and struggles him into an Akira Lock.)
WYLD: “Tap out you disrespectful jobber! I want to hear you tap like you did at Assault!”
MAC: "Come on, boy! Lock it in! Aye, make it snug, or-" (MacElroy slips out) "Try it again, wee'n." (Back and forth continues with Akira attacking and MacElroy taking it and escaping or throwing Akira off.)
WYLD: (Noticing the gawkers that have been gathering at the window) “You... you know what? You’re... not worth it MacElroy.”
(He grabs a towel from the front desk and glanced around as he wipes off his hands. Noticing those looking into the window, he throws the towel at the pane.)
WYLD: “What are all you idiots looking at?”
(He turns back to MacElroy and throws the towel at him.)
WYLD: “Enjoy your workout ‘Hard Man’. I’ll... I’ll bill you for the session.”
(He walks out. As he leaves, MacElroy cracks his knuckles and his neck, then drops for a rapid set of push-ups, singing.)

Re: The Hard Road
(The following was captured on security footage in the parking lot of the Greco Wyld Training Center.)
***The scene opens on a shot of a nearly empty parking lot outside the Greco Wyld Training Center. The ground is lightly dusted with snow. Suddenly to the training center door violently swings open and Akira Wyld trudges out with a gym bag over his shoulder. His head is down and his hands are thrust into the pockets of his leather jacket. He makes a solitary trek to a snow-dusted sedan in the parking lot. As he approaches the car, he lets the gym bag slip off his shoulder and he absently catches the strap as it slides down his arm. He stands silently in front of his car for several moments with his head down. Then he suddenly wrenches his arm back and hurls his bag hard at the door of his car. The bag ricochets off the door, sending a cloud of snow into the air. He lets out a primal yell and slams both hands down on the hood of the vehicle and begins violently kicking the driver side tire. After a few moments, he stops and leans over the car silently. A minute passes, and Wyld takes a deep breath. He tilts his head back and slowly drags his fingers through his hair with both hands. He exhales and smiles humorlessly through gritted teeth. Without looking back at the training center, he gets in his car, fires up the engine, and drives slowly away.***
