***The scene opens in the trainer’s room at the PWA Arena shortly after the finish of PWA Assault. Akira Wyld is sitting on an elevated table holding an ice pack to his neck. A trainer is wrapping his ribs with medical tape. Wyld winces in pain as the man binds off the wrap with a clip. Akira grits his teeth and throws the ice pack down on the table. A PWA reporter and camera crew enter the cramped room and approach the injured grappler.**
REPORTER: “Mr. Wyld, moments ago, the whole world witnessed you being brutally assaulted by an unknown assailant as you were preparing to meet Nakamura Yamasaki in the opening round of the King of Deathmatch tournament. And, as we all saw, moments later, iNCW’s own Victor Sokolov revealed revealed himself, taking your place and advancing in the tournament with a brutal win over the man you were scheduled to face. What is your reaction to this brutal attack, and to PWA’s decision to allow Sokolov to take your place in the tournament? You must be disappointed.”
***Akira grimaces as he leans in to the reporter’s microphone.***
WYLD: “You’re damn right I’m disappointed. That bastard Sokolov just cost me my chance at winning PWA’s King of Deathmatch crown. But the truth is, I’m not surprised in the least. Damion Black is doing everything in his power to break my family and destroy everything PWA is as supposed to stand for. I have no doubt Black paved the way for Sokolov to come here tonight and get the drop on me. That monster has been gunning for me ever since I beat him to become the first NWC Champion. Well, I hope Black paid him good for his services. Because as far as I’m concerned, Sokolov is a marked man.”
REPORTER: “Sokolov might be a hard man to track down. He isn’t a PWA contracted wrestler. Aside from his scheduled King of Deathmatch encounters... I can’t imagine he’ll be booked on any PWA shows.”
***Wyld touches his bandaged ribs:***
WYLD: “Maybe I won’t wait for PWA to book me a match. Maybe I’ll take the fight to him.”
***Wyld slides off the examining table and pushes his way past the reporters and out of the room.***
Akira Wyld has some words for Victor Sokolov...
