What Champions Do

*Snow and La Nieve are backstage, both leaning against a wall, talking quietly to each other. The camera, however, is close enough to pick up on their conversation.*
LA NIEVE: “You know he is honorless.”
SNOW: “I do.”
LA NIEVE: “And you know he's going to do whatever it takes to win.”
SNOW: “All true competitors do.”
LA NIEVE: “Do all true competitors cheat? Do all true competitors bring their muscle out to the ring to intimidate their opponent?”
*Snow sighs the deep sigh of someone who has already thought through all of this but is listening anyway.*
SNOW: “And what do you think we should do about it? We aren't involved. He's the champion, and if PWA sanctions the match, then our protests have already been considered.”
LA NIEVE: “We...we could be out there too. Sato's a force, but if you and I were in Ichikawa's corner he'd be far less likely to get involved.”
SNOW: “My child...”
FAMILIAR VOICE: “Amigo! Mi amigo!”
*Snow whips his head in the direction of the voice and sees his long-time friend and tag team partner Pantaro, dressed in his blue mask, black slacks, cowboy boots, a and white collared shirt open at the neck, gym bag in hand. Snow and La Nieve walk over to Pantaro. Snow and Pantaro genuinely smiling as they share a firm handshake, then Pantaro shakes the hand of La Nieve.*
PANTARO: “Amigo, you seem under-dressed! Where is your belt?”
SNOW: Ah, well. You know me and competition. I couldn't decide on just one person to get a shot, so I had to give it to most of the roster at the same time. Came this close to pulling it off, too.
PANTARO: “Ah, I know. I saw the battle royal. Bad luck, my friend, but I know you will win it back…” *Pantaro turns to La Nieve* “… unless this one beats you to it! I have been watching, La Nieve! I am impressed with your progress!”
LA NIEVE: “It's been rough, uncle. I won't deny that. But I feel like I improve every day. It won't be long before I'm running everyone ragged around here.”
SNOW: “What of you? How is iNCW treating you?”
PANTARO: “My time was well-spent in iNCW. It is not the same place it was when I first visited. The competition is better. They work harder, fight harder. I managed to claim the Prospect Title there for a time, and that turned into a match where I faced the Heavyweight Champion for his title. Alas, it was not to be. Infowarrior is a great champion and he proved that to me in our match. I feel I have gained much from my time in iNCW. In fact, I might recommend….”
*Pantaro’s voice trails off as all three overhear a commotion down the hallway of the gym. They turn their attention to see Nikki Wyld animatedly telling off Rex Camelot.*
PANTARO: “Disculpame, por favor. I better see what’s going on before things get out of hand.”
*Pantaro begins walking toward Nikki and Rex.*
LA NIEVE: “So can we do it?”
SNOW: “You won't back down, will you? Fine, let's go talk to Mr. Black.”
LA NIEVE: “You know he is honorless.”
