AKIRA: Last night on PWA Battery, my brother Rebel and my sister Alyssa walked out into the PWA Arena and did what the Wyld Family always does. They put on an in-ring clinic, representing the greatest that professional wrestling has to offer to a sold out legion of fans. They stepped between the ropes and took on Rhett Holiday’s sadistic Sinn twins in a tag-team classic.

(Akira nods slowly and begins pacing back and forth.)

AKIRA: Representing wrestling… representing the WYLD Family. Twenty years in this business… and those concepts are still kind of new to me. For a lot of years, the Surgical Specialist’s philosophy was to represent only one thing. I didn’t care about family. I didn’t care about tradition. All I cared about was myself and my career. It took a vicious beating by Damion Black to teach me that there are things more important than pride. But while I may be a late learner… I can still be taught. This past season, my family and friends taught me what was truly valuable in this life. My uncle, brother, sister, and niece taught me the virtue of patience and forgiveness. My friends Ronnie Lassiter and La Nieve taught me the value of teamwork and sacrifice. Damion Black… despite his intentions… he taught me a little bit about humility. I’d like to think that I’m a better person for it all. I finished last season with the best in-ring record I’ve racked up to-date in PWA. I came within a hair’s breadth of securing a spot in the finals of the 6-man championship tournament. I posted paid to a long standing grudge against Damion Black. And I scored a win over Alex Prime at PWA Warfare. All in all… during this last season in PWA... I learned a lot.

(Akira smiles and laughs under his breath.)

AKIRA: But you know… I guess I’m just stubborn. Because no matter how hard I try, it looks like there is one lesson I just can’t seem to get through my thick skull. And that lesson involves the PWA Heavyweight Champion Viktor Sokolov. You might remember last season, I fought the Siberian Psychopath in a one on one encounter exactly one time. And I got beaten within an inch of my life. He left me broken and bloody and flat on my back staring up at the lights. You’d think a smart man would learn his lesson after a brutalizing like that. But then… Viktor Sokolov issued his PWA Heavyweight Title open challenge.

(Akira looks up at the camera with a gleam in his eye.)

AKIRA: And you know me… I just can’t seem to let an opportunity at gold pass me by. So here we are. Viktor Sokolov… CHAMP… I want a shot at you one more time. And I’m taking my shot at PWA Assault.

(Akira cracks his neck and takes a breath.)

AKIRA: Now… the uninitiated might think I’m just asking for a career ending injury making a challenge like that. But those who pay attention to history know that Viktor Sokolov doesn’t have the sterling record over me that he likes to think he does. We have two, official, sanctioned singles matches in the PWA record books. But those aren’t the only times we’ve fought, are they Vik? Let’s rewind back to our first encounter in iNCW. That was a bout over the NWC Heavyweight Title. We fought TWICE in iNCW over that title… both in multi-man matches, and both times I won. Then after you attacked me in PWA, I gave you a receipt by beating the holy hell out of you in the iNCW Arena, leaving you battered and bleeding. In fact… just last season, I beat you in a 6-man tag match. And for those who think you have my number in singles matches… I remember a little match at a special ‘unsanctioned’ house show that begs to differ. Frankly Sokolov… there’s no man in the wrestling world who has a better winning record over you than Akira Wyld. And chew on this… you’ve NEVER been able to beat me in a match where championship gold was on the line. Because Akira Wyld is THE measuring stick all other champions in this sport are judged by. And at Assault… I’m going to remind the world, and remind YOU… of just who I am.

(Akira Wyld narrows his eyes and scowls. The scene fades to black.)
